The spindle is nothing but a drilling machines which holds a tool and performs cutting and drilling operation on work piece power by a high speed spindle motor (say 10000 rpm -This speed is fully controllable). The cartridge spindle is a heavy duty spindle allows heavy cutting and there is a over sized disc springs called "Collet" which gives the tight holding to the tool. This mechanism developed by LEADWELL using high precision P4 grade bearings reduces tool movement, improves tool life , reduces chattering and creates a better finish

WORKING /OPERATION:
The spindle mechanism consists collet which operates by a boosting cylinder (a pneumatic cylinder).When the boosting cylinder is activated by air its plunger enlargement causes spindle collet to open and it release the tool (At this same operation air release inside the collet to clean). At the top of the boosting cylinder there is a adjusting bolt to adjust the opening of the collet. During the auto operation at the time of tool changing all the axis moves to tool change position, Automatic tool changer (ATC) door open and ATC motor energizes until complete one cycle of operation starting from home position .ATC consists double handed arm one arm holds unclamped tool from spindle and the other takes tool from magazine for the next operation and inserts in spindle.
